Retail Client – Nationwide rollout

Helping the retail market overcome the challenges of carrying out fire compliance without closing the stores and causing disruption to colleagues and customers.

The traditional method of closing the store, removing all fixtures and fittings including suspended ceilings and lighting are very disruptive to the store and extremely expensive, especially with the store closure of 1-2 weeks.

Total Design have successfully completed Passive Fire Protection to multiple units throughout the UK. Our customer recognised that there was a need to improve the fire separation between the retail area and residential areas above the stores and were looking for an alternative method of carrying out the work without disrupting the store.

Total Design were able to provide a significantly more cost-effective solution that still guaranteed fire compliance. Work started in September 2018 and will run until August 2019 with a programme of 3-4 stores per week. The Total Design Group are an independent construction company employing professional, accredited staff who work to rigorous quality standards from the project setup to the co-ordination of work flow that ensure work is completed smoothly, and the store is ready to open on time the next day.

The outcome of this is a significant cost saving on the Passive Fire installation and the prevention of lost income, which would have been incurred due to the closure of the stores.
